Our journey to Thassos began with a simple plan – six friends, all seeking a break from the ordinary, decided on a trip to this beautiful Greek island. Coming from Plovdiv, Bulgaria, we were eager to experience the blend of sun, sea, and culture that Thassos promised. We arrived at the port of Limenas with open minds, ready to create memories that would last a lifetime.

Our first day was a swift immersion into the world of Thassos. Limenas, with its picturesque fishing boats and the gentle sea breeze, welcomed us warmly. We explored the small shops filled with handcrafted souvenirs, while one of us, a history enthusiast, was fascinated by the ancient ruins of the Agora. In the evening, at a seaside tavern, we savored the freshness of the seafood and the authentic taste of ouzo.

The next day, we decided to embrace the atmosphere of Golden Beach. Those who love the sea amongst our group enjoyed every moment, diving into the crystal-clear waters and dancing on the sand. The most active one tried various water sports, while the rest of us enjoyed the endless view and the moments of relaxation on the shore.

In the following days, our adventures took us to the mountains. Panagia, a traditional village straight out of a fairy tale, stole our hearts with its stone fountains and ancient plane trees. In a small kafeneio, we met a kind elderly woman who offered us homemade sweets and told us stories of the village. The hike to the summit of Mount Ipsarion was challenging, but the panoramic views of the Aegean Sea rewarded us immensely.

As the days passed, we discovered more secrets of Thassos. At Aliki, one of us was mesmerized by the colors of the pebbles and the serenity of the landscape, while another was fascinated by the ancient ruins. Another two of us visited the impressive Giola, the natural pool, experiencing an unforgettable swimming adventure. We all encouraged each other to try every local delicacy, from thyme honey to the slow-cooked kleftiko.

On the way back towards Limenas, towards the end of our trip, we met a group of locals celebrating their local panigiri. The melodies of the traditional music, the dances, and the generosity of the people created a sense of familiarity and joy. A kind woman grabbed our hands, offered us a glass of wine, and led us into the dance, as if we were part of her family.

Our final evening in Limenas found us gathered at a seaside bar, overlooking the illuminated port. We shared our favorite moments, laughed, felt moved, and agreed that Thassos was not just a destination, but a shared experience that brought us closer. As one of us said, “It is the place that awakened all my senses.” After laughing, we concluded, “Perhaps the most remarkable thing is that on this trip, there was not a single moment when we did not laugh.”

As we said goodbye to Thassos, we took more than souvenirs with us. We took memories that will last forever. And as one of us said, “I know that I will come back, to relive all these wonderful moments.” This was our story – six friends, seven days, countless memories, and a love for Thassos that had just begun.
